Peace of Jerusalem - Psalm 121 (122)

PSALM 121 (122)

A song of ascents.

I was glad because of them that said unto me,
Let us go into the house of the Lord.
Our feet have stood within thy courts, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is builded as a city whose fellowship is complete.
For thither the tribes went up, the tribes of the Lord,
a testimony for Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
For there are set thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.
Ask now for the things which are for the peace of Jerusalem,
and for the prosperity of them that love thee.
Let peace be with thy strength,
and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions’ sakes,
I spake peace concerning thee.
Because of the house of the Lord our God,
I have sought thy good.

The Psalmist is all packed and ready to go. He is thrilled that it is time to travel to Jerusalem to go to the Lord’s house, back where he belongs. Jerusalem is all decked out and ready, and the witnesses have been summoned - and he is to be among their number. He is going to give thanks to the King, and witness the marriage of the King to His bride, bringing about lasting peace and prosperity.

It made me glad when I heard them say
To the house of God now let us journey
Tower of strength to you we rally
Obedient tribes
Come to praise your holy name
Bow before your righteous throne

Before your throne our tribute we bring
And thankfulness from those that love you
Decked as a bride for royal marriage
And peace in your palaces
Are the judgment from your throne

Jerusalem we pray for your peace
And providence to those that love you
For peace inside your walls and dwellings
For our families
And the house of the Lord our God
I will pray and work for peace
