Keeper of Israel - Psalm 120 (121)

PSALM 120 (121)

A song of ascents.

I lifted up mine eyes unto the mountains, from whence
cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Let not thy foot be moved, and let not thy keeper slumber.
Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor
sleep.
The Lord shall keep thee; the Lord is thy shelter upon thy
right hand.
The sun shall not burn thee by day, neither the moon by
night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; the Lord shall
preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy coming in and thy going out, from
this time forth, and even for evermore.

The Psalmist has left his nomadic life with his cousins for a life on the open road, a road that goes uphill from all directions. He has set his eye on the highest hill around. A city is set on top of it, which the whole world looks to for light: the city of Jerusalem. This is where the house of his God is located, and it is there he will find peace. God will be with him on his journey. He will be his shade by day, his sanity by night, his safety always.

I lift up my eyes unto the hills.
From where will my help come?
From the Lord who created the heavens and the earth
That's where my help will come from
That's where my help will come from

He never sleeps
He won't allow your foot to slip
The watcher of Israel is your help
The Lord who created the heavens and the earth
The keeper of Israel is your help

The sun will not harm you by day
Nor the moon make you mad in the night
The Lord will protect you from the evil one
The Lord is your shade and your light
The Lord is your shade and your light

You will come in
And safely you'll go out
The watcher of Israel is your help
The Lord who created the heavens and the earth
The keeper of Israel is your help
